Hitwise helps companies access and process data about their consumers and competitors, so they can define, understand, and target their audiences wisely.
Design a new look for the data-focused Hitwise website, and help the company’s large, international team unify their branding.
Hitwise uses data to help companies understand their consumers and competitors so they can get ahead. They wanted to redesign their marketing website so that it could visually out-shine its competitors and clearly explain how Hitwise helps clients acquire customers and grow their market share.
Hitwise wanted a highly creative, custom website, but it was important that their team could make changes to copy and images after the site went live. So they needed us to design the site with a content management system (CMS) in mind. Because they had a large, international team, they also needed a new brand style guide to maintain a consistent look and feel into the future. And they needed it all fast — in just a few months!
We used a suite of remote design tools and hopped on daily calls with Hitwise to make the tight deadline. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Branding & Brand Guidelines
We began with a branding process to refresh the Hitwise image. The Hitwise teams in London and Los Angeles worked with us across time zones to choose bold brand colors and icon styles. Then we created a set of visual guidelines that the Hitwise team could use in the future to stay on-brand. The look: clean, modern, and simple.
Once we agreed with the Hitwise team on a creative direction, we dove into designing the site. We used Sketch for the visual design and Abstract for version control (although these days we’re fans of Figma). These tools made it easy to collaborate with Hitwise’s in-house designers in London and L.A.
Hitwise wanted to use Wordpress’s Gutenberg editor, which offers reusable blocks that would make it easier for their team to manage content in the future. Within this accessible format, we created unique, data-friendly designs.
Hitwise knew that animation was the key to making their data come to life. They provided the data, and our animation team found creative ways to present it. We exported the animations as Lotties, fast-loading animation files that work well on any device.
Hitwise was able to transform their brand’s style and launch a new website to share it with the world.
The large, internationally distributed Hitwise team was able to edit their new site post-launch, and got a set of visual brand guidelines to help them stay consistent in their look.
Together with our design team, we got it all done in just a few months — as quick as a bunny!
Best of all, Hitwise and Purple Bunny became design partners. After the website was done, we worked together on all kinds of cool stuff, like building a design system for the site, creating new sales materials, and designing a booth for a major marketing conference.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of their control, Hitwise had to wind down its operations in 2020. We are grateful to have had the privilege of working with the Hitwise team, and we will miss them dearly.
